Desires

Mt 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

In this opening Scripture, I wish to show you three things today.

First…Have Faith in God

·         We say it every day…

o        When we see people who are going through trials and tribulations in their lives, it is easy for us to walk up to a brother or a sister and say…just have faith.

·         But when the trials come at you it becomes a different story.

o        Our faith becomes weak

o        Our hopes diminish

o        And doubts start to creep into the small part of the back of our minds and we wonder…God, are you there?

·         Satan kicks his deception up a degree or two and the next thing you know is that you are down at the local tavern will all those others who have lost faith in:

o        Their lives

o        Their families

o        Their friends

·         They have given up the true promise of what God can do if…they have had their faith.

·         What is that true promise of God if we have faith?

o        Is it Peace in our hearts knowing that we have given God:

§          all our problems,

§          all our worries,

§         All our fears

o        Is it hope of eternal life with all our dreams realized?

§         True love

§         Comfort

§         No more sorrow

§         No pain

§         No hunger

§         A body that never ages

§         Peace

§         Understanding

o        Is it to be back in the garden of Eden

§         Walking hand in hand with the lord

§         A family that loves

§         A family that cares

§         A father that you can sit in his lap and just love on as a little child.

·         Faith is something unseen

·         Faith is a verb…it’s an action that must be taken.

·         Faith is trust beyond all measure.

·         Faith is continuous..You don’t turn it off or turn it on.

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Mark says take it possess it do it and then leave it in God’s hands. That is faith….

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

The second thing.

·         How many of us here today…have seen miracles in our lives.

·         How many of us here have seen prayers answered.

·         How many of us have prayed in sincerity that God will do what we ask if we ask in the right manner if it is his will.

o        But when we pray that we give god the option to do what he wants and not what we are asking for.

§         Is that what the scripture states?

o        Is this the verse the preachers talk about having riches on earth…?

§         Just pray for it.

§         Just ask God and believe in it and it will happen.

§         You can have health happiness and riches on earth if we just ask and believe.

·         The key to this is having the mind of Christ in our prayers and the purpose of those prayers…

o        In all things we are to glorify our father in heaven.

o        In all things we should pray as Christ would pray…”thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”

o        Would you give glory to God by moving a mountain…Brother James did this and Brother James did that…not god did this and God did that.

§         Who gets the glory……?

·         What is the most powerful pray that we know god will listen to an answer.

o        Praying for the salvation of others

o        Praying that people will come to know Christ our lord and savior.

o        Praying for spiritual healing and not physical healing.

·         God is more concerned with what happens in our lives as it leads up to his saving grace.

·         God is more concerned with us knowing who his son is and he is not interested in us having a sing or a dinner, or even a get together for dinner after church, or an anointing someone to be healed. …unless it will lead someone to learn that Jesus died for them at Calvary 2000 years ago.

·         If you want to move a mountain…how about the mountains that keep us separated from our lord and savior.

o        The mountain of pride

o        The mountain of anger

o        The mountain of selfishness

o        The mountain of alcoholism

o        The mountain of drugs

o        The mountain of pornography

§         There is a whole mountain range call the sinful mountains.

§         We are on one side and God is on the other

·         And the faith of moving those mountains is that we get to see Jesus.

·         God will help us move those mountains.

o        If you let him…and that is where faith in God comes in..

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Third     Then there is that word desire…

·         To:

o        Wish for

o        To crave

o        To want

o        To long for

o        To need

·         Is god saying that whatever we desire, whatever we need will come true if we ask, believe in faith and we shall receive?

·         Is the scripture repeating what was said in the second verse?

o        Again we have to look at what is it we desire….

§         Is it a new car

§         A new home

§         A new job

§         Money in the bank

§         To win the lottery

o        What is it we need…simply:

§         The clothes on our back

§         Money to pay the bills

§         A home

§         Food on the table

o        But there is a mountain range we are trying to climb over.

§         The biggest peak is desire peak…oh and how big is it…

·         Every day to we say I sure wish this and wish that.

·         Then we begin to lust after it.

·         We get jealous if someone else gets it and we don’t

·         Then who knows what other mountains get in our way to achieve what we want.

o        Murder

o        Thief

o        Adultery

·         What happens when we get want we want?

o        We are spoiled like little children

o        We have it then we get tired of it and then we move on to the next desire in our life.

·         I believe for God to answer our prayers we really need to know the one thing we really desire.

o        Think about it….

§         What is it all of us want?

§         What is it all of us need?

§         What is it we cannot live without?

o        Do you know…?

o        Have you figured it out yet?

o        Let me tell you what it is we all desire.

§         What it is all of us need

§         And what it is that without we die.

·         It is love…

o        God created us to love

o        God created us to give love

o        God created us to be love

·         The one thing that our hearts desire is love.

o        That is why there are bars all over the town.

§         People go to the bars to seek

·         Fellowship

·         To be able to speak to people

·         To develop friendships

·         To find some kind of relationship

o        It may be the wrong relationship.

§         Girls walk the streets, prostituting themselves to:

·          find love,

·         to find a relationship

·         to find a meaning to life

·         And men pick up these girls for the same reasons.

§          We are here today because we seek it, we need it and we will die without it.

·         We are here to be loved

o        By our family of friends

o        By God himself

·         God created us to be in a relationship with him and with each other.

o        To love and to be loved that is our hearts desire.

o        God created us so that it is more than love of another human being because that will never be enough.

o        God created us to have a relationship with Him and if we never have a relationship with God or relationships with others then we will or our souls will start to shrivel up and we will die inside of us.

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

These verses show us that we must:

1.       Have faith in God and God alone…not in our selves but in Jesus Christ.

2.       We need to believe that God will answer our prayers but there are mountains in our lives that must be moves…and god will moved them if we believe.

3.       And if we focus our hearts on our real desires:

a.       To be loved and to love

b.       Then we shall have them.

Let me read out of James before we close:

Jas 4:1 ¶ From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Jas 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Jas 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Jas 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Jas 4:11 ¶ Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Jas 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Jas 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Jas 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Jas 4:15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

Jas 4:16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
