Jesus the Savior Will He be YOUR king? Cross roads of Life Marriage: I heard on the radio Friday that there are new contracts for marriage now. · You can get a 5 year contract · A ten year contract o These contracts are base on renewable terms at the end of the contract. o When children are decided on the contracts are redone to include children. o Contracts broken parties can be sued for breach of contract. · Does your contract have an agreement written in it? o If so what does it say?
Point…in a contract either party has to agree to the terms or there is no contract; yes or no?
In accepting Jesus as your lord is there a contract between the two.
Point: are there terms that require action on our part?
There are conflicting opinions as to if Jesus is really God incarnate.
Point: Can you remain neutral and not make a decision on Jesus Christ?
It’s like politics you are either for or against. You can say it doesn’t matter but does it really?
What does the word cross roads implicate?
Acts 2:22-24 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
Jesus has been the main theme of discussion for the last 2000 years. Is this a topic we can remain natural on.
· In Acts we see Peter preach and people rejected Christ. · The rejected him for saying He was God · Some rejected the signs and the prophecies of His coming. · Some rejected his demands that we need to change in light of the coming kingdom.
1. What kind of Life changing decisions have we made in our live? 2. How many cross roads have we come upon and made wrong turns? 3. How many would we like to go back and change that directions> 4. How would that make us a different person?
1) Jesus was born in Nazareth. a) What do you think God chose that area? i) What roadblocks kept you from and maybe are keeping you from trusting Jesus? 2) The main issue is the Jesus is really about Gods ways or opinions vs. man’s opinions. a) What are the implications if God has an opinion about your life choices? b) What should our response be to God’s opinions and perspectives? c) How are your opinions different from Gods and who would be right? 3) Does our opinion reflect reality or a perceived reality? a) Where do you get your opinions about Jesus? b) Have you ever had a hard time admitting you were wrong? i) Why? c) Why are we afraid of being wrong? d) What is at risk if our opinion about something doesn’t reflect reality?
Stirring testimonies! Acts 2:32-36 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Peter indicted the men of Israel for missing all the clear signs that Jesus was and is so much more that a man. v Why do some people in our lives lack credibility with us? v How would you respond if you witnessed someone raised back to life? Ø What is back to life? Ø Do we see it every day? v How would you respond to the one who raise the dead?
If the Holy Spirit reveals the truth that Jesus is not only alive but also reigning with God in Heaven then: v What effect of the Holy Spirit can you see in their lives of Christians today? v What are the implications for us if Jesus is reigning with God in Heaven right now?
Standing at the crossroads!
Acts 2:37-41 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Have you learned something so massive that it changed life as you know it? How about when you learned someone you knew was dying?
Matthew 16: 15 Jesus asked His Disciples? “Who do you say I am?”
When you learn that massive thing that changes your life…it’s like a gold bar on the floor of your house that just appeared…you can’t ignore it?
v The knowledge of it changes everything. Ø The way you think. Ø The way you act. Ø Habits are changed…you just don’t ignore it…it’s there.
v That is the way Jesus is…it’s there and you can’t ignore it…you have to address it eventually. v You have to do something with Him.
v It what ways do we try to ignore the Gospel? v It what ways does the knowledge of Jesus change you? Ø Can you remain neutral? Ø Are you at the crossroads of Jesus today? Ø Are you trying to figure out what to do with Him?
v Crossroads is not an easy place…it’s simply a place. Ø It’s a choice that you have to make. § Path one leads to life and peace § Path two leads to death and despair.
It what areas of our lives do we trust ourselves more than God? What plans to we make without including God in the decisions. Would they be the same? What would it really be like if you truly submitted to Jesus as Lord as well as savior?
“Jesus is not a concept, but a person”.
